Slow roasted red onions caramelize to perfection with help from silan, red wine, and great spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of red onions, cut in half (from pole to pole) with skin on
  • 2 Tbsp Ana blend
  • 1 Tbsp Fleur de sel
  • 1 Tbsp Pierre Poivre blend
  • 1 Tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup silan
  • ½ cup red wine

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In an oven safe baking dish, evenly sprinkle the Ana, fleur de sel, Pierre Poivre, fresh thyme, and olive oil.
  3. Place the onion halves, cut side down, into pan and drizzle on the silan and red wine.
  4. Bake until tender, about 1 hour.
  5. Carefully peel back the skin and remove when ready.
