Tartine is a just fancy name for toast. It is my go-to as a snack, lunch, or hors d'oeuvre. You can make it with fresh bread or use a day or two old bread and grill or toast it. In this recipe I am using two of my all time favorite pantry items - labne and preserved lemons. I invite you to get creative and come up with your own toppings.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (I used a sesame sourdough)
  • 1/2 cup labne, store bought or homemade (just skip the curing step)
  • 1/4 cup diced preserved lemon
  • 1/4 cup pitted black olives, diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1 tablespoon Za'atar spice blend
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Drizzle some olive oil on the sliced bread and spread with labne. Top the tartine with the preserved lemons, olives, and chopped chives and sprinkle the za'atar on top.
  2. Drizzle some more olive oil on top and season with a little salt. Enjoy.
