Jim began working with La Boite in the spring of 2011, after the PDT head bartender, Jeff Bell, biked up to the store to bring back some of Lior's handiwork to incorporate into cocktails. They were so impressed by the quality that they started incorporating La Boite spice blends into the rims of their cocktails, one of which, the Sarawak Cocktail, using Borneo N26, is featured in The Art of Blending.
Out of this came the Bloody Mary Collection. Rather than carefully mixing varying proportions of each spice into your recipe or carelessly adding them without measuring, they created four mixes and accompanying recipes based on widely available mixers, which will allow you to prepare and recreate each recipe again and again with just half a teaspoon of spice mix.
